Should You Get Car Insurance From The Dealership
When it comes to purchasing a car, you may well get an offer from the dealership where you purchase your car from. They may even offer you a discount rate, but can you really trust that discounted rate and should you really buy from the dealership?
What the Dealership Offers
Usually the dealership will offer added extras near the close of a sale and car insurance is often one of them. However, most of the time these so called 'deals' are often not quite as good as they seem. This is because dealers bank on the fact that you will know nothing about car insurance as well as buying a car. They are trained to make a sale and to make something sound so good that it is almost irresistible. However, often what they fail to tell you is that their deals are actually higher than most other places in which you can find car insurance.
So, your best bet is to just listen politely whilst they are telling you all about their fantastic deals and then turn them down gently by saying 'no thank you'. If they still persist then reassure them and tell them you have already sorted out your car insurance plans with another company. That should stop them from trying to sell the insurance to you and that then leaves you free to look independently.
It really isn't that hard to find good priced car insurance, especially if you have the internet, so always try and find the best price for you before purchasing anything.
When to Buy From the Dealership
Whilst it is better to get car insurance yourself, sometimes it is a little more convenient just to accept what the dealer is offering. It would save you a lot of time as often even though there are hundreds of companies which offer lower prices; it would take you hours to sift through them all. So, if you are in a bit of a hurry and saving money is not really all that important to you, you may as well purchase it there and then.
Overall no matter where you purchase your car insurance you should always make sure that you understand what the insurance covers before agreeing to anything. Also, even though it is convenient to get car insurance from the dealer, it is always better to try and shop around if you can as you will find much better prices elsewhere.
